ROUNDUP FELLOWSHIP
Position Title: P.C.A. Counselor (Part Time Position)
Department: Adult Division, Residential
Supervisory Functions: none
Supervised By: Team Leader and Division Director
Job Summary: This person supports adults with developmental disabilities in their home through providing supervision, training, and other support services.
Duties/Responsibilities:
§ Uphold the mission, values, policies and procedures of Roundup Fellowship.
§ Work cooperatively as a member of a staff team.
§ Assure that a safe living environment is maintained for each resident.
§ Provide supervision, training and support needed by program participants for completion of activities of daily living, and for ISSP goals and objectives.
§ Monitor resident’s self-administration of prescribed medications.
§ Assist resident in the scheduling and attending of needed medical, dental or therapy appointments.
§ Provide transportation for residents as needed.
§ Complete and maintain required paperwork.
§ Communicate with respect and tact as a professional with coworkers, and others.
§ Assist resident in planning and implementing community activities.
§ Participate in cleaning and maintaining the home/apartment with the resident, when appropriate. These tasks may include, but are not limited to vacuuming, laundry, dishes, meal preparation from a menu, organizing drawers and closets, cleaning ovens, washing windows, etc.
§ Participate in staff meetings, mandatory training and other meetings scheduled at the request of the Division Director or Team Leader.
§ Other duties as assigned by supervisors including being “on-call” for resident in emergency.
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
§ High school diploma or GED with two years work experience with individuals with developmental disabilities OR
§ One year of college level coursework with human service emphasis
§ Ability to read, write and speak the English Language for required paperwork, testing and professional communications.
§ Ability to do simple math calculation and analyze data.
§ Valid Colorado Driver’s License and proof of insurance.
§ Satisfactory central registry and CBI records check.
§ Able to work with minimal supervision.
Typical Physical and Mental Demands:
· Requires sitting, standing, bending, kneeling and reaching to complete household cleaning tasks.
· Must be able to resolve problems, handle conflict and make effective decisions under pressure.
· Must be mentally adaptable and flexible in dealing with a variety of program participants with challenging behavior.
· Emotional stability and personal maturity are important attributes in this position.
