ROUNDUP FELLOWSHIP
Position Title: Counselor I – Evans House (Full Time Awake Night Position)
Department: Adult Division, Residential
Supervisory Functions: none
Supervised By: Counselor III & Program Director
Job Summary: This person supports adults with developmental disabilities/physical disabilities and high medical needs in their home through providing physical assistance, supervision, training and medical support services.
Duties/Responsibilities:
§ Uphold the mission, values, policies and procedures of Roundup Fellowship.
§ Work cooperatively as a member of a staff team.
§ Provide a safe, homelike, nurturing environment for each resident.
§ Assist with the house maintenance, cleaning and laundry tasks, meal preparation from a written menu, and other duties that may be assigned.
§ Provide direct physical assistance, supervision, training and support needed by program participants for completion of activities of daily living (e.g. toileting, eating, personal hygiene, etc.)
§ Assist residents with taking prescribed medications.
§ Reposition residents during shift and implement individual health care plans.
§ Respond to nighttime emergencies.
§ Complete and maintain required paperwork.
§ Notify other programs and the transportation provider of unplanned absences of residents.
§ Communicate with respect and tact as a professional with coworkers and others.
§ Participate with the team in development and implementation of Individual Service and Support Plans.
§ Participate in staff meetings, mandatory training and other meetings scheduled at the request of the Program Director.
§ Other duties as assigned by supervisors.
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
§ High school diploma or GED or C.N.A. with previous successful work experience with individuals with developmental disabilities OR
§ One year of college level coursework with human service emphasis
§ Ability to read, write and speak the English Language for required paperwork, testing and professional communications.
§ Ability to do simple math calculations and analyze data.
§ Valid Colorado Driver’s License and proof of insurance and ability to drive a 10 passenger van with a wheelchair lift.
§ Satisfactory central registry and CBI records check.
Typical Physical and Mental Demands:
· Requires sitting, standing, bending, kneeling and reaching.
· Requires the ability to lift at least 50 lbs. on a regular basis for 2 person lifts and transfers.
· Requires sufficient range of vision and hearing.
· Must be able to resolve problems, handle conflict and make effective decisions under pressure.
· Emotional stability and personal maturity are important attributes in this position.
· Must be able to stay awake and alert during night hours.
